Hi everyone! I thought I would share a little tidbit of information – this is for anyone who uploads files and shares the download links. I would never want to spam my fellow scrappers with useless information, but I felt that this was something many of us could benefit from:)
I personally do not like sites like 4shared to share my downloads. I do have my own VPS server and have quite a bit of bandwidth allowance. Here is my problem though: Because I have a lot of traffic coming to my site for freebies and some of the files are quite large – I have almost reached my bandwidth limit in 3 days! WOW! I’m not complaining:) I LOVE sharing stuff for free! But I can’t invest more cash in my already pricey server costs – so I went hunting for a reliable online file storage site which would allow me to share my links without problem.
So – I found this:
Always have your stuff when you need it with @Dropbox. 2GB account is free!
It’s awesome and free as long as it is under 2GB:) They have a software that installs a folder which automatically synchs the files you drop into it, and then you can grab the download link and share it) They also have a link shortening option when you grab the public download link.
So now I solved my bandwidth problem:) I completely recommend using Dropbox.

I just discovered DropBox myself…for sharing some web design files with a client in Japan. Never occurred to me to use it for freebies though! Thanks for the tip.
YIPPPEEEE!!!! Just this afternoon I was dealing with some problems with 4-shared again and moving stuff to media fire, but I am not a fan of either. I had come to your blog to sign up for your newsletter and saw this post. I have just linked a freebie using Drop Box and I am so happy with it already. Thank you for sharing this post. I think drop box will be a huge help on my blog. Thank you.
Still playing around with dropbox. The only think I am sad about loosing in the download tracking of media fire and 4-shared. Do you track your downloads in anyway? I have heard of Bitly, but am not sure how to use it or if there is something better out there to track downloads. Thanks.
Howdy! I could have sworn I’ve been to this website before but after checking through some of the post I realized it’s new to me.
Anyways, I’m definitely happy I found it and I’ll be book-marking and
checking back frequently!
